The Executive MBA of the University of Zurich offers a variety of Learning Expeditions. The EMBA with Focus on International Management usually travels to China and the USA and the EMBA with focus on Digital Transformation travels to Israel, USA and China and also visits Swiss Innovation hotspots during the Switzerland Learning Expedition. In a year marked by opening and closure of borders, facilities and flight routes this has been a challenge. Nevertheless, the EMBA visited Innovation hotspots in Switzerland and did an exciting module on Corporate Entrepreneurship with Prof Fredrik Hacklin in Lugano comprising of workshops, corporate guests and live visits to companies. The EMBA also visited Berlin for the module “Design Thinking for Business Transformation”.
During this Learning Expedition in November 2021 the EMBA participants embarked on 5 Design Thinking live cases to create custom solutions to unique challenges posed by 5 venture capital backed start-ups in Berlin. Based at Goodpatch in Kreuzberg, the multi-cultural, tech start-up and creative quarter of Berlin, the EMBA participants worked with Boris Jitsukata, Managing Director of award winning design agency Goodpatch and his team and with Stanford University lecturer Dr. Tamara Carleton.

During the course of the Learning Expedition the EMBA teams worked with stakeholders, clients and customers of the start-ups and conducted research to develop the solutions that were presented and discussed with the management.
Now in January 2022 the EMBA UZH is off to visit San Francisco and Silicon Valley to explore the unique innovation ecosystem on the US West coast.
