After an exciting week in San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Stanford University the Executive MBA UZH with Focus on Digital Transformation transferred to the East Coast to meet the colleagues from the EMBA UZH with Focus on International Management for a joint module on “Negotiation and Leadership” at Yale University.
The one-week joint study trip to Yale University is a particular highlight of University of Zurich’s Executive MBA programs. The academic content at the Yale School of Management is tailored to the needs of the Executive MBA and focuses on “Negotiation”. This study trip complements the program in Zurich with insights into Anglo-Saxon management culture. Experienced professors such as Daylian Cain, Emma Seppälä Jason Dana Amy Wrzesniewski and James Baron deepen the management and leadership skills of our students in the rich learning environment of Yale University. Participants enjoy and experience the “American Way of Teaching” and benefit from the excellent application-oriented research at Yale University. Dr. Eveline Trachsel, Medical Director Switzerland-Austria at Bristol-Myers Squibb from the EMBA UZH class of 2021-23 said “The professors helped us translate the theory of Leadership and Negotiation directly into practice. The Learning Expedition was concluded on Friday in the Boston / Cambridge MA area with visits to swissnex Boston, Harvard University and a company visit to Portal Instruments, a MedTech start-up with a needle-less injection system, where Founder Patrick Anquetil spoke about the challenges of setting up and developing a business on the East Coast.

The next Learning Expedition in July 2022 will take the Executive MBAs to Israel – to experience the start-up and scale-up nation with the largest concentration of venture capital and start-up companies outside of Silicon Valley! Then in November 2022 the EMBA will set sail to Singapore to learn about the challenges and opportunities in South East Asia.
