EMBA UZH Refresher 2025

The EMBA UZH Alumni community met for this year’s Refresher at the University of Zurich. The purpose remained consistent: consolidate current management knowledge, assess emerging developments, and reinforce the alumni network.

From Monitoring to Performance Management
Prof. Dr. Tarkan Tan demonstrated why audit-centric supplier oversight shows limited long-term impact. He outlined how Scope-3 transparency, predictive modelling, and structured supplier development shift sustainability from compliance to operational performance management.

Stablecoins: Structural Risk in the Digital Financial System
Prof. Dr. Karl Schmedders analysed stablecoins through the lens of classical banking logic. He highlighted how interest-rate movements, reserve structures, and regulatory dynamics can generate liquidity risks analogous to traditional banking—despite the “digital asset” label.

A Strong Community Moment
The Apéro Riche enabled focused discussions and peer exchange. The high participation underlined the continued relevance of a compact, insight-driven annual format for the EMBA Alumni community.

This year’s Refresher offered two distinct perspectives on risk and sustainability, both influenced by evolving regulatory and strategic dynamics. Thank you to Tarkan and Karl, and all participants for contributing to a substantive and engaging session.

See you next year!
